Welcome to The Mandarin Lab

We help students across West Los Angeles strengthen their Mandarin skills and build real confidence using the language.

Think of The Mandarin Lab as Mandarin “lab hours” — a place where students can strengthen what they’re learning, get support when Mandarin feels challenging, and build a deeper connection to Chinese language and culture.

Our Families Say:
We feel so incredibly lucky to have found The Mandarin Lab at the very beginning of our daughter’s Mandarin journey at Broadway elementary. As a family that does not speak Mandarin at home, we knew we needed strong support — and The Mandarin Lab has been absolutely invaluable. The growth we’ve seen in our daughter’s confidence, comprehension, and fluency has been remarkable. Her Mandarin is so much stronger because of the thoughtful, structured, and encouraging environment they provide.

Her tutor, Xu Laoshi, is truly exceptional. She is not only highly skilled and deeply knowledgeable, but also incredibly kind and patient. She knows exactly how to meet each child where they are and help them build from there. Our daughter genuinely loves going to her sessions — which says everything.

The environment itself is something special. There’s a wonderful mix of kids from kindergarten through high school, and the culture is warm, focused, and positive. The students seem truly happy to be there. The highlight of our daughter’s week is “Fun Lab” on Fridays — learning through games and engaging activities in Mandarin has made such a difference in keeping her motivated and excited."
